My Approach

Upper Peninsula Journey is my way of documenting and sharing the places, experiences, and character of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The site focuses on real locations—scenic overlooks, small towns, local businesses, hiking spots, waterfalls, and hidden roadside discoveries that make the U.P. unique. Rather than trying to be a massive travel directory, the goal is to build a growing collection of genuine observations, photos, and helpful information that visitors and locals can actually use when exploring the region.

I’m creating this project because I enjoy exploring the Upper Peninsula and learning as I go. The website is both a creative outlet and an experiment in building something useful on the internet—combining photography, writing, and hands-on web development. Much of the process involves trying ideas, testing tools, and refining the content over time. Ultimately, Upper Peninsula Journey is about sharing the experience of discovery while creating a practical guide that encourages others to get out and explore the U.P. for themselves.
